Color.lol: AI-generated coloring pages

I recently started collaborating with Jessica on a new project we’ve lovingly named Color.lol

Color lets you create custom printable coloring pages that are fun for all ages. It’s got two unique prompting modes we’ve dubbed WordMode™️ and KidMode™️.

We started it as a silly side project that we could use with our 2-year old, and help Jessica to get some hands-on experience designing and building with AI. We’ve been having a blast building it over the last month during nights and weekends, and we’re finally ready to share!

WordMode™️

WordMode™️ is a simple text-to-image prompting form that gives you a bunch of pre-baked ideas that you can try with a click of a button. If you click the sparkle button, all of the prompt suggestions are shuffled, and a random prompt is selected. This makes for a fun and engaging prompting experience.

KidMode™️

KidMode™️ lets you create unique printable coloring pages by selecting a series of icons. For example you could select “Bear”, “Baseball Hat”, and “Glasses”, and you’ll get a kid-friendly coloring page.

We had a lot of fun designing this unique Fisher-price text-to-image prompting user experience. The thing that surprised me, is that even our two year old can use it! 🤯

It’s actually a magical experience to try Color.lol on your phone or iPad with a toddler, and ask them what they would like to color. Kids intuitively understand that they’re creating a new coloring page. They shout out “Bear!” and “Glasses!”. Then suddenly when you click the print button, their minds explode when they see the image on the screen materialize on physical paper in front of their eyes. Making coloring with your kids a heart warming experience.
